THE PREMIUM CARD GUIDE

Every perk on the cards that cost the most.

29 cards with a $250+ annual fee or a gate in front of them — invitation, private-bank relationship, or closed to new applicants. Every credit, perk and protection, and what the fee really costs once you use the credits.

Who gets what

Hover or tap a tick for the detail. Net = annual fee minus statement credits at realistic use (easy credits 100%, medium 60%, hard 30%); a green + means the credits are worth more than the fee — if you'd spend on those things anyway.

American Express Centurion AMEX

American Express

The Centurion Card from American Express

Invitation only medium confidence

By invitation from American Express only - there is no application. Amex does not publish criteria; invitations go to existing Amex cardmembers (usually long-time Platinum holders) with very high spending. Reported thresholds vary: roughly $250,000-$350,000+ a year on Amex cards for the personal card (One Mile at a Time, TPG, Upgraded Points), some sources say $350,000-$500,000, and ~$450,000-$500,000 for the business version. Some cardholders report asking Amex to be considered. Expect $15,000 in the first year ($10,000 initiation + $5,000 annual fee). [1] [2] [3] [4]

Fee: Plus a one-time $10,000 initiation fee (U.S.) in the first year, so $15,000 up front. Each additional (authorized user) card costs $5,000 a year. Fees raised from $2,500/yr ($7,500 initiation) in April 2020.

  • 1x Everything else — 1 Membership Rewards point per dollar on all purchases. Reviewers disagree on extras (Upgraded Points mentions 2x on Amex Travel and Uber; One Mile at a Time mentions 1.5x on purchases of $5,000+ with caps) - unconfirmed, so not filed.

American Express approval rules: Once per lifetime · Family rules · 1/5 and 2/90 · 5 credit card limit

Charge card; no preset spending limit. Amex's public Centurion pages are login-only, so everything here comes from 2025-2026 reviews (TPG, OMAAT, Upgraded Points, Doctor of Credit). July 2026: added a $1,000/yr Resy credit ($250 a quarter, enrollment required). Sources disagree on what it replaced: CardStack says the $250-a-quarter Saks Fifth Avenue credit ended June 30, 2026, and Upgraded Points says the $200 airline fee credit was dropped. Neither the Saks nor the airline credit is filed here. The one-time $300 SoulCycle bike credit and the $120 Uber One credit appear only on CardStack, so they are left out. The CLEAR amount comes from a TPG article dated Jan 2025. Protection limits and the rental car coverage type were not confirmed. No foreign transaction fee is widely reported, but I did not see it on an issuer page. Earns only 1x, so it is a poor card for earning points: its value is in status, lounges, concierge and access.

Barclays approval rules: 6/24 · 24-month bonus rule

WEB-VERIFIED 2026-09-23 against luxurycard.com. Marketed by Luxury Card (Black Card LLC), issued by Barclays. Points: 1x everywhere, 2x only on airfare/hotels booked via LuxuryCardTravel.com; no transfer partners; points never expire. Gold redeems at 2% for both airfare and cash back (50,000 points = $1,000 airfare / $1000 cash back). The shared luxury_card_points currency uses 1.5¢ cash / 2¢ airfare, so it UNDERSTATES this card's 2¢ cash-back value. No welcome bonus. Card is 24K-gold-plated metal, 22 g. Cell phone protection limits are from secondary sources (official page gives none); no purchase protection or extended warranty is listed on the card page.

Chase approval rules: 5/24 · Sapphire 48-month rule · Southwest / Marriott / United family rules · 2/30

Subject to Chase 5/24; cannot hold both Sapphire Reserve and Sapphire Preferred. Overhauled June 23, 2025: annual fee $550 -> $795 (AU $75 -> $195); earning changed to 8x Chase Travel, 4x flights and hotels booked direct, 3x dining, 1x everything else (the old 3x general travel/transit and 10x Chase Dining are gone, so Uber, transit, rental cars, cruises and OTA bookings earn 1x); Chase Travel redemptions fell from a flat 1.5 cents to 1 cent per point with Points Boost up to 2 cents on select bookings. The card still transfers 1:1 to Hyatt (unaffected by the 2026 4:3 change to Sapphire Preferred/Ink Preferred). 2026 additions: The Edit $500 credit began Jan 1, 2026; $250 select Chase Travel hotels credit through Dec 31, 2026; DFW and LAX Sapphire Lounges; Marriott Gold registration July 1 - Sept 30, 2026. Time-limited perks: IHG Platinum through 12/31/2027; StubHub credit through 12/31/2027; Lyft $10/month + 5x through 9/30/2027; Peloton $10/month + 10x through 12/31/2027; Apple TV/Music activation by 6/22/2027; DashPass/DoorDash promos activation by 12/31/2027. Many credits are calendar-half or monthly and require activation, so realistic value is well below the ~$3,000 headline. 2026-10-01: new $15/month DoorDash credit on any order added (Kudos blog, Sept 2026); the two $10 non-restaurant promos and DashPass continue.

Business card. Purchases that qualify for statement credits do not earn points. 5x Lyft through 9/30/27. The $300 travel credit runs on the account anniversary year; The Edit, Google Workspace, ZipRecruiter and Giftcards.com credits run on calendar-year / Jan-Jun / Jul-Dec cycles. Unlike the personal Sapphire Reserve, the business card has NO StubHub/viagogo, Exclusive Tables dining, Apple TV+/Apple Music or Peloton credits; it gets Google Workspace, ZipRecruiter and Giftcards.com credits instead (all end 12/31/27 or 10/31/28). Rental car coverage is primary only when renting for business purposes. Employee cardmembers get no lounge access. Doctor of Credit (9/1/26) reports the $5 DoorDash restaurant promo becomes a $15 any-order credit on 10/1/26, presumably including the business card; not yet confirmed by Chase. J.P. Morgan Reserve Card

Requires a banking/wealth relationship medium confidence

Not open to the public: only J.P. Morgan Private Bank clients can get it, by invitation or on request through their private banker. Chase publishes no asset minimum. Reviews report roughly $10 million+ in assets managed with J.P. Morgan (Upgraded Points, WalletHub); AskSebby reports about $5 million+; View from the Wing notes some clients have gotten in with less. Existing Chase Palladium cardholders were converted to this card, and there was a brief public application window around 2016 that is now closed. [1] [2] [3]

Fee: $195 per authorized user. Went up with the June 2025 Sapphire Reserve overhaul ($595 in 2023 per View from the Wing). No initiation fee reported.

Chase approval rules: 5/24 · Sapphire 48-month rule · Southwest / Marriott / United family rules · 2/30

Essentially a Chase Sapphire Reserve for J.P. Morgan Private Bank clients. It adopted the June 2025 Sapphire Reserve overhaul: $795 fee; 8x Chase Travel, 4x flights and hotels booked direct, 3x dining; the Sapphire Reserve's credit suite. On top of that it adds a United Club membership (moved to the J.P. Morgan Reserve United Club Access Membership on Jan 15, 2026, when the base membership went from 2 adult guests to 1), a stronger concierge, and non-standard credit reporting. There is no public Chase or J.P. Morgan product page, so everything here comes from reviews and aggregators (CardPointers, AskSebby, Upgraded Points). Upgraded Points' comparison still lists the old 10x/5x/3x earn rates, which are out of date. Not confirmed for this card, so left out: the Sapphire Reserve's $250 select-Chase-Travel-hotels credit (through 12/31/2026), the new $15/month DoorDash credit (Oct 2026), the $75,000-spend unlocks (IHG Diamond, Hyatt Explorist, Southwest A-List), IHG Platinum status, the 5x Lyft and 10x Peloton earn rates, and the exact limits on purchase and travel protections.

  • 5x United Airlines Airfare (booked direct) — 5x miles on all other eligible United purchases (seat upgrades, Economy Plus, inflight food/beverages/Wi-Fi, bag fees). Chase advertises '11x total miles on eligible United flights' = 6x base MileagePlus flying miles + 5x from the card; Basic Economy earns fewer base miles. Marked NEW on Chase's page in 2026 (was 4x).
  • 5x Issuer travel portal — 5x miles on hotel stays when you prepay directly through Renowned Hotels and Resorts (a Chase Travel-powered luxury hotel collection). Taxonomy has no 'renowned_hotels' merchant key, so merchant is null; ordinary Chase Travel bookings earn only 2x as travel.
  • 2x Travel (general) — 2x miles on all other travel: airfare, trains, transit, cruises, hotels, car rentals, rideshare, tolls
  • 2x Dining & restaurants — 2x miles on dining including eligible delivery services
  • 1x Everything else — 1x mile on all other purchases

Premium United card, Visa Infinite; formerly marketed as the United Club Infinite Card and now branded simply 'United Club Card' on Chase's site. United/Chase refreshed the lineup on 2025-03-24: annual fee $525 -> $695 (existing cardholders from 2025-08-01); standard United Club guest policy cut to one adult guest (or one adult plus dependents under 18) with Star Alliance lounge access moved to the new All Access tier (Premier Gold or $50,000 calendar-year spend); the two 5,000-mile award rebates were replaced by up to two 10,000-mile award discounts (one per $20,000 spend); PQP cap raised to 28,000 with a 1,500 PQP annual bonus from 2026; new partner credits added (Renowned Hotels $200, rideshare $150, Avis/Budget $100, Instacart $240 through 12/31/2027, JSX $200). Chase's page in 2026 marks 5x on United purchases (up from 4x) as NEW. The 5x Renowned Hotels rate is filed under travel_portal with no merchant key because the taxonomy lacks a Renowned Hotels merchant; it does not apply to other Chase Travel bookings. Chase 5/24 rule applies.

  • 3x Airfare (booked direct) — 3x on airline purchases (TPG, Upgraded Points).
  • 3x Rental cars — 3x on car rentals (TPG, Upgraded Points).
  • 3x Dining & restaurants — 3x at restaurants (TPG, Upgraded Points).
  • 2x Everything else — 2x on all other purchases (TPG, Upgraded Points).

Chase approval rules: 5/24 · Sapphire 48-month rule · Southwest / Marriott / United family rules · 2/30

Closed to new applicants; available only by product change from a Chase Marriott card held 12+ months. 2026 change: from 2026-01-15, lounge guests (Priority Pass and Chase Sapphire Lounges) are capped at 2 free per cardmember or authorized user, with $27 for each extra guest; they had been unlimited before (Frequent Miler, Upgraded Points, Doctor of Credit). Because authorized users are free and each gets their own Priority Pass, adding one is the workaround for larger groups. The $300 travel credit must be requested from Chase within 4 billing cycles; it is not applied automatically. Chase's benefits page does not list the fee or earn rates; those come from TPG (2026-08-10) and Upgraded Points (2026-03-13), which agree. The Doctor of Credit review found in search is from 2014 (the old $395 fee and 5x/1x earn) and was not used for current terms. The Platinum Elite at $75k spend and the Visa Infinite rental car status come from TPG only. Points do not expire as long as the Marriott Bonvoy account has activity at least every 24 months (general Bonvoy rule).

  • 4x United Airlines Airfare (booked direct) — 4x miles on all other eligible United purchases (seat upgrades, Economy Plus, inflight food/beverages/Wi-Fi, bag fees). Chase advertises '10x total miles on eligible United flights' = 6x base MileagePlus flying miles + 4x from the card; Basic Economy earns fewer base miles. Was 3x before the 2025 refresh.

Upper-mid-tier United card (Visa Signature). United/Chase refreshed the lineup on 2025-03-24: annual fee $250 -> $350 (existing cardholders from 2025-08-01), the old $125 United purchase credit and two 5,000-mile award rebates were replaced by a $200 TravelBank credit, a 10,000-mile anniversary award discount and a second 10,000-mile discount after $20,000 spend, PQP cap doubled to 18,000 with a 1,000 PQP annual bonus from 2026, and new partner credits were added (Renowned Hotels $150, rideshare $100, Avis/Budget $80, Instacart $180 through 12/31/2027, JSX $150). Chase's page in 2026 marks 4x on United purchases (up from 3x) as NEW. The 5x Renowned Hotels rate is filed under travel_portal with no merchant key because the taxonomy lacks a Renowned Hotels merchant; it does not apply to other Chase Travel bookings. Chase 5/24 rule applies.

  • 6x Marriott Hotels (booked direct) — Chase wording: '6 points for each $1 spent on qualifying purchases made at hotels participating in Marriott Bonvoy'. Chase advertises 'up to 18.5X total' = 6X card + up to 10X Bonvoy member base points + 2.5X Gold Elite bonus on paid stays; only the card's 6X is filed here. Separately, 1,000 bonus points per eligible paid stay (see benefits).
  • 4x Groceries (supermarkets) (up to $15,000/year) — Chase wording: '4 points total for each $1 of the first $15,000 spent annually on combined purchases in the following rewards categories: grocery stores; dining at restaurants including takeout and eligible delivery services'. The $15,000 cap is shared between grocery stores and dining, then 2X.
  • 4x Dining & restaurants (up to $15,000/year) — Chase wording: 'dining at restaurants including takeout and eligible delivery services'. Shares the single $15,000/yr combined cap with grocery stores, then 2X.
  • 2x Everything else — Chase wording: '2 points for each $1 spent on all other purchases'. Upgraded Points lists 'travel purchases' separately at 2X, but that is the same base rate.

Launched September 2022 alongside the Amex Bevy (Chase press release; Upgraded Points offer history); no material product changes reported in 2026 - the card is still open with the same $250 fee, 6X/4X/2X structure and Gold status. No annual statement credits and no automatic anniversary free night; the only Free Night Award comes from $15,000 calendar-year spend, which is also the cap on the 4X groceries/dining bonus. The 2026 Boundless airline-credit promotion is NOT offered on the Bountiful (Chase's Marriott comparison page shows it only under Boundless). Protection amounts are from marriott.chase.com/bountiful/benefits and the Chase card page; Upgraded Points' 2026-03-13 review lists different figures (trip delay $300, baggage $2,000, purchase protection $10,000) that conflict with Chase and were not used. HelloSafe (2026-06-11) and Chase's benefits page show no trip cancellation/interruption, emergency medical or evacuation coverage. APR 19.24%-29.99% variable (Chase). Chase 5/24 applies. Bonus restrictions (Chase): not available if you currently hold this card or received its bonus in the last 24 months; also blocked if in the last 30 days you held the Marriott Bonvoy Amex, in the last 90 days were approved for the Marriott Bonvoy Business/Brilliant/Bevy Amex, or in the last 24 months received a new-cardmember or upgrade bonus on those Amex cards. Elite Night Credits post from only one Marriott personal card even if you hold several.
