THE PREMIUM CARD GUIDE

Every perk on the cards that cost the most.

29 cards with a $250+ annual fee or a gate in front of them — invitation, private-bank relationship, or closed to new applicants. Every credit, perk and protection, and what the fee really costs once you use the credits.

Who gets what

Hover or tap a tick for the detail. Net = annual fee minus statement credits at realistic use (easy credits 100%, medium 60%, hard 30%); a green + means the credits are worth more than the fee — if you'd spend on those things anyway.

The Ritz-Carlton Credit Card

Hard to get

Closed to new applicants since about 2018. You can only get it by product-changing (upgrading) a Chase Marriott Bonvoy personal card - Boundless, Bold or Bountiful - that you have held for at least 12 months: call Chase and ask. TPG also reports you need roughly a 670+ credit score and a $10,000+ credit line. No welcome bonus is offered on a product change. [1] [2] [3]

Fee: $450 (TPG 2026-08-10, Upgraded Points 2026-03-13). Authorized users are free and each gets their own Priority Pass Select membership.

Chase approval rules: 5/24 · Sapphire 48-month rule · Southwest / Marriott / United family rules · 2/30

Closed to new applicants; available only by product change from a Chase Marriott card held 12+ months. 2026 change: from 2026-01-15, lounge guests (Priority Pass and Chase Sapphire Lounges) are capped at 2 free per cardmember or authorized user, with $27 for each extra guest; they had been unlimited before (Frequent Miler, Upgraded Points, Doctor of Credit). Because authorized users are free and each gets their own Priority Pass, adding one is the workaround for larger groups. The $300 travel credit must be requested from Chase within 4 billing cycles; it is not applied automatically. Chase's benefits page does not list the fee or earn rates; those come from TPG (2026-08-10) and Upgraded Points (2026-03-13), which agree. The Doctor of Credit review found in search is from 2014 (the old $395 fee and 5x/1x earn) and was not used for current terms. The Platinum Elite at $75k spend and the Visa Infinite rental car status come from TPG only. Points do not expire as long as the Marriott Bonvoy account has activity at least every 24 months (general Bonvoy rule).
