Benefits

  • No annual fee
  • 6 months complimentary DashPass — 6 months of complimentary DoorDash DashPass ($0 delivery fees on eligible orders) listed on the chase.com Freedom page for existing cardholders.
  • Auto rental collision damage waiver (secondary) — Reimbursement for theft and collision damage on most rental vehicles; the Freedom-family guide to benefits makes this secondary to personal insurance in the U.S.
  • Product change to Freedom Flex or Freedom Unlimited — Existing cardholders can convert to Freedom Flex or Freedom Unlimited without a new application (no new welcome bonus or intro APR) — CNBC.
  • Purchase protection — 120 days from purchase, up to $500 per item / $50,000 per account (90 days for NY residents)
  • Extended warranty protection — +1 year on eligible U.S. manufacturer warranties of 3 years or less (up to 4 years total)

  • Pool points to Sapphire / Ink Preferred for transfers — Earns Chase Ultimate Rewards points (marketed as cash back at 1 cent each). • Travel and emergency assistance services — Legal and medical referrals and other assistance while traveling (services are referral only; costs are the cardholder's).

Notes

Closed to new applicants since 2020-09-15, when it was replaced by the Freedom Flex; existing cardholders keep the card and still get the same quarterly 5% categories and activation calendar as the Flex (Chase press releases name 'Freedom and Freedom Flex cardmembers'). Earns 5% on up to $1,500 combined quarterly spend in activated categories, then 1%; 1% on everything else. CONFLICT: CNBC's 2026 category-calendar page says legacy Freedom holders also earn 3% dining/drugstores, but Chase's own Freedom page shows only '1% on all other purchases', and CNBC's discontinuation article plus US Credit Card Guide state the legacy card lacks those categories — filed without them. 3% foreign transaction fee: the fee was not shown on a fetched page for this specific card (USCCG says a fee 'is present'; 3% is the rate on every other Freedom card). The 2026-09-20 Flex fee removal does not extend to it (Doctor of Credit). Lyft 2% offer not confirmed for this card. Most holders are better off product-changing to the Freedom Flex (adds 3% dining/drugstores, 5% Chase Travel, and no FTF from 2026-09-20). Rewards post as Chase Ultimate Rewards points; 1 point = 1 cent for cash back/statement credit (no minimum to redeem, never expire while the account is open); Amazon Shop with Points redeems at only 0.8 cents/point. Q4 2026 categories not announced as of 2026-09-07.
